10 DIFFERENT PHOTOGRAPHS YOU CAN PRACTICE RIGHT NOW [UPDATED]

Like every artist, each photographer has their own style and preferences when it comes to choosing themes, lenses, filters... That is the hallmark of each one, their signature, their mark. Surely you have yours, although you may not have realized it. However, sometimes it is okay to go beyond those limits that you have consciously or unconsciously imposed on yourself. Trying new things always fuels the imagination, improves our view of the world around us, and helps us learn.

The same thing happens with photography, if you try new options that you didn't know about before or hadn't dared to try, it will motivate your learning, it will surely stimulate your creativity and who knows... maybe you will find another style that is also "very yours" that you like more. or with which you feel even more identified. That is why in today's post I am not going to give you any advice, nor am I going to give you steps on how to take a type of photography, at most I will give you some links.

My intention with this article today is to give you ideas to arouse your interest in trying something different, stimulate your photographic vein and activate your imagination. I don't know if I'll succeed, but if I can at least get you to take out your camera and start shooting, the work will have been worth it.

1. BLIND CAPTURE

Have you ever tried shooting without looking? If you have done it you will have verified that it is not easy, in fact to get something decent you will have to shoot a few times before getting something interesting. The first few times you'll get more sky or more ground than anything else, but when you get the hang of it you'll be able to get wonderful snapshots like Gus-Art's, because no one will know you're shooting and the result will be as natural as life itself.

2. FORCED PERSPECTIVE

There is a powerful compositional element, perspective. You can use linear, aerial or forced perspective. It is very likely that you have used the first two without even realizing it, but forced perspective, as its name suggests, is intentionally sought. It is a game that can be very fun and entertaining, and not only that, it can offer you very interesting results. Learn here to master perspective as an element of composition

3. LIGHT PAINTING

You do not know what it is?! Don't worry, I'm sure you're not the only one. Although you may already have been able to deduce what it is from the name, here are 11 impressive examples of lightpainting and here how to take your first lightpainting photograph. So much repeating the name that I bet you've already learned it ? . It is a different type of photography that, oddly enough, cannot be achieved with Photoshop and it is even more fun than the previous one.

Violeta explains in the following video how to introduce yourself to this technique:

4. INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY

A completely different type of image from what we are used to seeing is infrared photography. There are not many who have entered it, perhaps because of the apparent difficulty, however it is not so difficult. You have two ways to carry it out, either with an infrared filter or after shooting with an editing program. If you are curious, here I explain how to take your first infrared photography .

5. UNDERWATER… HALFWAY

You may wonder what I mean by halfway ? . If you look at the picture you will understand. It is a type of photography that being underwater (shot under water) is not completely. Half of the image (or a piece) takes place below the water surface and the rest outside the water. The result is really interesting, among other things because it is not an image that we are used to seeing, and on the other hand because it allows us to compare two environments that coexist in harmony but are completely different.

6. FISHEYE

I'm sure you know this type of photography, but I'm not so sure that you've practiced it. It is true that it is not a great mystery to do it, you use the indicated objective, period, perhaps the only mystery is finding the type of images and scenes that best suit this type of "deformation", because let's be honest... not all images are favored with these types of objectives. Of course, very good results can be achieved if you learn to look at the world from a "fish eye" with these recommended objectives .

7.TIME LAPSE

It is a magical and different way of photographing the movement of the stars or any other element whose movement occurs so slowly that it is imperceptible to the human eye. And how could it be otherwise... we also have an article in which we explain how to make your first Time Lapse .

8. MULTIEXPOSURE

If you expose your scene multiple times, you will be able to capture motion independently. That is to say, you shoot several times in the same frame, with which, if there is an element or person moving through the scene, it will be portrayed the same times that you have shot and in the positions in which it was. With the example you will understand it better.

9. SOIL PHOTOGRAPHS

This one has even less mystery (and more for the timid ones who are looking at the tiles all the time), however, you should know that sometimes there is life beyond asphalt and parquet and that you can find reasons worthy of photographing such as this example. It is not necessary that you fight with the world and stop looking people in the face looking for an interesting photo of the pavement, it is enough that you be attentive to those floors that have a vintage, magical or fun touch and that make an interesting game with your shoes and/or some other element. Mmmm, ahem… (wait, I'm biting my tongue…), I can't, I can't…. I know, at the beginning I told you that I was not going to give you any advice but I can't help it: with these photos, please, the lines must be completely straight!!!!

The ground can give you the odd surprise

10. GEOMETRIES

The geometries, like the lines , can give a lot of play. If you use them as a composition element you will achieve different and original images. The trick is to find interesting shapes with bright colors that coexist in harmony. Look at this example:

Ten is a round number and I hope your images remain round, even though they may seem different to you now, some of them may end up being a regular part of your photographic repertoire. As you may have seen, they are not that difficult to carry out and unless you live very far from the sea, I do not see anything that can prevent you from practicing these ten different forms of photography. In addition, with your creativity and imagination you can invent others, such as the cover image.

I say goodbye until the next article, but not before thanking you for reading this far, and incidentally asking you to share or give it a "Like". These gestures are what make the blog grow ? .
