Today I come with photographic accessories to protect your equipment and so that you don't miss a photographic occasion for fear of damaging it (in the link you will find a mega guide on photographic accessories in general that I recommend you look at).
When you spend your savings or work unbearably to get your first SLR and little by little you get a team that accompanies you on your photographic adventure, the last thing you want is for it to suffer minimal damage. This often means that you are lazy to go out to take photos on a rainy day, that you do not do your children's beautiful session on the beach as you would like, that if you are going to pass near the water on the next excursion you will not dare to take her with you, etc. Has any of this happened to you?
A pity, because the adverse weather conditions are very photogenic, the water an incredible opportunity and a pity that you cannot move freely and confidently in the places you would like. That's why I bring you this article.
ACCESSORIES TO PROTECT YOUR EQUIPMENT
1. BACKPACK
One of the first accessories you should think about. If your equipment is stored and moves from one place to another inside the appropriate backpack, you can save yourself more than one upset. There are waterproof, anti-theft, with multiple sections, with more or less capacity. There is no ideal backpack for everyone, but there is an ideal one for you. Think about your needs, the size of your team and search. For now, we will leave you with several ideas in case any of them fit you.
A tiny and cuddly:
Padded and with rain cover:
This is Mario's favorite:
HereYou can find countless more models and this camera backpack purchase guide can surely help you in your search.
2. CAMERA CASE
If you are only going to store or transport the camera with a single lens, you may prefer a case. Much more comfortable and there are also padded and waterproof ones. For example these.
Made of neoprene, waterproof, with different patterns and colors:
To carry inside another bag or bag:
A basic and comfortable, padded and with pockets:
Before buying a case, make sure it will fit your camera with the lens attached ;).
3. SHOULDER BAG
Maybe you are more of the shoulder bag type, as I said there is no ideal backpack for everyone, nor is there the perfect accessory. There will be those who prefer a backpack or who prefer a shoulder bag or even a cover. It depends on you, your team and your needs ;).
And it is more complete, to store the camera with up to three objectives:
4. CASE TO PROTECT LENS
And since we are talking about covers and other similar accessories for the camera, I present to you these covers or cases for the lenses. There are many types, because it is not the same to store a 70-200mm tele, for example, than a fixed 50mm. That is why it is important that you check that the size is adequate:
Padded, Water-Resistant Telephoto Shoulder Bag:
Pack of four bags for different sizes, made of neoprene and a soft plush interior:
5. SUNSHADE
Continuing with the objectives, there is another accessory that also protects them, although in this case from bumps and scratches on the lens or from the sun when taking photos. It's about the sunshade. Here, what you have to look at when buying one is the diameter of the lens.
It is important not to confuse the diameter mm with the focal length. The focal length will appear on your lens, for example 50mm, but this Ø symbol will also appear accompanied by a number and followed by "mm", that is the diameter, which you have to look at to buy your lens hood. I give you, for example, one compatible with the 50mm 1.8 of Canon, whose diameter, as it says in the specifications, is 49mm.
6. FILTERS
To protect the lens from bumps and scratches, you also have filters. There are also many types, polarizers, neutral density, etc... But if what you are looking for is protection, the UV filter is usually used. As with parasols, when buying one, take into account the diameter.
On the other hand, it is important that you buy a quality filter. Especially if you have an expensive lens and you are looking for sharpness in the photos. Think that you are putting a glass in front of the objective, if you put a poor quality one, it will be of no use to have a very good objective.
This one is 49 mm in diameter, to continue with the same example of the parasol, but if you go inside, you will see that it is available in different sizes:
And here is a cheaper option but also from a great brand and with very good opinions on Amazon:
7. FILTER CASE
If you get together with several filters, an option to keep them protected is a case similar to this one:
8. RAIN COVER
Photos in the rain can be really fascinating. If you don't want to stay at home while others enjoy it, this may interest you.
9. WATERPROOF CASE ACTION CAMERA
If you have a GoPro, it wouldn't be bad for you to get a housing to put it in any aquatic environment or to practice your sports near water without any risk. Like this one for example:
find hereone suitable for your GoPro.
10. MEMORY CARD CASE
Prevent them from getting lost or damaged with a card case. This one, for example, is waterproof and shockproof.
Although if you are not going to leave the house, nor are you going to get close to the water, one of this type may be worth it:
11. THERMAL BLANKET
You may be wondering why you want a thermal blanket… You will need it if you think that your equipment is going to have to stay in full sun for a long time and inevitably. If you cover it with this blanket, you will reflect the sunlight, protecting the equipment. If you do not have aluminum foil, it can also serve as an improvised resource.
12. SCREEN SAVER
To keep your camera screen scratch-free, put a protector on it like this one. Look at the measurements of your screen. If you can't find it, you can also buy a slightly larger one and cut it to size.
13. DUCT TAPE
If you anticipate a very dusty or sandy session, I recommend taking a roll of electrical tape with you to cover the gaps.
14. AIRTIGHT PLASTIC BAG
Also, to isolate your equipment from drops of water or dust and sand, you can use hermetic plastic bags, such as those for freezing food, or with a plastic bag without a closure, putting some rubber bands on it.
15. CLEANING KIT
I leave it for last because if you have been in a "delicate" weather condition, even if you have taken precautions, it would not hurt to give it a little cleaning when you return. Remove traces of sand or dust that may have gotten in and make sure everything is dry.
