I don't know if you've already given a name to that magical moment that precedes sunrise or happens at sunset, but what's certain is that its magic hasn't gone unnoticed when it comes to light. Because, although it seems that the golden hour beats her in terms of fame, it does not do so in beauty. Both are attractive that it is difficult to resist. Here I dedicated an exclusive article to both of them that I hope will be of interest to you, today I bring you 15 photographs of the blue hour that I propose as an inspiration, after a brief summary of its characteristics.
Before continuing, if you are interested in delving into lighting in photography, be sure to read this mega guide that we have prepared for you, with everything you need to know.
WHAT IS THE BLUE HOUR?
Blue hour is that time of day when the sky turns a deep blue just after sunset or just before sunrise, preceding or just after the golden hour and having a completely different color temperature.
The golden hour, on the other hand, is the moment when the sun is low on the horizon (either just at sunrise or sunset) and the sky is tinged with warm tones, the light is soft and has a golden hue.
Both take place quickly and last relatively little, so it's worth trying with them because they give a lot of play and the light is wonderful.
The blue hour is tremendously photogenic, especially for photographing cities. It is a moment in which there is still light in the sky, the color is a beautiful blue and also the lights of the buildings and the streets have already been turned on. This creates a very photogenic play of light due to the contrast between the warmth of the artificial light (which is usually made of tungsten with a very warm tone) and the light from the sky, which at that time is a cold tone.
However, it can also be used in landscapes or even portraits, especially looking for the play of color it provides.
Now yes, without further ado and after this short introduction I let you analyze for yourself what you can achieve in the suggestive and beautiful blue hour, through these wonderful images.
I don't know about you, but I really wanted to get one of these beautiful images of the blue hour. Not to you? I will confess to you that one of the things I like the most about photography is that you can practice it anywhere, at any time, with any light and in any situation. You always, always have opportunities to take a good photo, to learn new things, to practice.
