Canon EOS 1100D

Introduction

Almost three years have passed since Canon launched the EOS 1000D , the most affordable model in the company's DSLR line. This year, the company introduced an updated camera - EOS 1100D. View prices and buy Canon EOS 1100D At the turn of the 1990s, a four-digit number meant the simplest, initial model in the line of then-EOS film cameras. With the advent of digital SLRs, Canon has left the same familiar principle. The new camera is an update of the old EOS 1000D : a similar lightweight compact body with a fairly comfortable grip and a relatively large number of control buttons, modern autofocus, trendy Live View and video recording. However, do not forget that this is the cheapest model, designed to plant owners of soap dishes on the mirrors so that they do not run away to competitors offering mirrorless cameras with similar characteristics. We tried to figure out what the advantages and disadvantages of this camera are, both in comparison with the more expensive Canon SLR cameras and competitor mirrorless cameras. The main features of the model:
  • 12-megapixel matrix format APS-C;
  • video recording (1280x720p, 25 or 30 frames / s);
  • contrast autofocus in live view mode; new 9-point autofocus;
  • iFCL light meter (coming from the older non-frame camera model - EOS 7D ); Improvements in the management of shooting parameters and interactive tips;
  • maximum sensitivity of 6400 units of ISO.
Differences from Canon EOS 1100D:
  • faster burst shooting in RAW RAW (but still much slower than in JPEG); video shooting;
  • buttons for enabling Live View / video recording and quick access to shooting parameters; Eye-Fi card support;
  • slightly larger screen (2.7 ”and 230,000 pixels);
  • expocorrection up to 5 steps; HDMI connector
  • new more capacious battery;
It would seem a solid list, but suddenly, something got worse. Unfortunately, it became: the depth of field preview button disappeared from the case (the SET button on the rear panel can be programmed for this function); the built-in flash has become less powerful (leading number 9.2 versus 13 on the EOS 1000D); the rubberized surface of the camera handle disappeared; The old BG-E5 battery grip now does not fit the camera, and the new one has not been released.
