GET SPECTACULAR SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHS WITH THESE OBJECTIVES

Talking about choosing a goal is always complicated, because there are so many factors and variables when choosing one, which makes it almost impossible for us to succeed in a general way. When we talk about objectives for sports photography , although, a priori, it seems that we narrow down a bit, the truth is that we are still immersed in a huge range of possibilities, starting with the type of sport that we are going to photograph, the light conditions, etc.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A LENS FOR SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY?

Before opting for one or the other, you should consider and try to solve these questions. You will see how doing so will facilitate your choice greatly.

At what distance they will be located, in a general way, the protagonists of your images. It is not the same to photograph a game at the Camp Nou than to go climbing with your friends ...
How much light you will have in general available. A karate championship is not the same as a ski one
Do you want a fixed optics or a zoom? Or rather, what are you willing to sacrifice for having a zoom that you can afford
Do you really need a new goal or can you work with what you already have?

ADVISABLE FEATURES THAT A SPORTS GOAL SHOULD HAVE

Luminosity: I have already told you that it depends a lot on the type of sport you are going to photograph. You may have a lot of light because yours is to photograph marathons in the desert, but in general, it is important to look for luminous lenses that allow us to freeze the intrinsic movement to most sports (for which you need to work with high speeds).
Stabilizer: Very, very advisable, especially with long focal points, since a stabilizer will help you reduce the trepidations that may be caused by your own movement.
Focal length: It depends, it depends, it depends… On a lot of things, it can interest you from a fisheye to a telephoto lens. Although the most common is that we opt for telephoto lenses that, a priori, give us more versatility in different sports.

70-200MM F / 2.8 WITH IMAGE STABILIZER

If you have a good pinch to invest, this lens is very versatile thanks to the focal length it covers (70-200) and its very good luminosity considering that it is a zoom and not a fixed lens. However, this is paid, as always. As you can see, there is not a single recommended goal for sports, nor just a focal range. There are so many sports that occur in so many different situations that it is difficult to advise one above the other. What is certain is that the luminosity plays in our favor in any circumstance, although unfortunately, it pays quite expensive. So, since there is no photographer like another, we do not all have the same budget, nor do we like the same sports, that your favorite objective is not here, does not mean that it is not valid or recommended.
