Nikon D3100 SLR Camera Test
Thanks to only one “trifle” - replacing the CCD by a modern CMOS sensor - Nikon managed to make a completely new and modern amateur DSLR based on the somewhat outdated D3000, not inferior in its capabilities to other brands of DSLRs. And at its rather modest price, the Nikon D3100 may just be a great choice for a beginner amateur.

pros
- good image quality in low light;
- fast and accurate autofocus (for its class);
- fast (for SLR) contrast autofocus;
- convenient selection of the focus point by the naviped;
- sufficiently capacious buffer and honest burst shooting (with a standard speed for this class of cameras);
- manual video settings;
- convenient hint system.
Minuses
- medium quality screen;
- inconspicuous case;
- lack of bracketing;
- lack of an external microphone jack;
- full-fledged work only with new motor lenses.
