The metal frame is painted in body color, the ends are machined and concave. Another feature is a drop-shaped cutout on the front panel, in which proximity and lighting sensors, a front camera are located. We’ll start the story with her. It is the front camera with a resolution of 25 megapixels that is a feature of all OPPO models. She is also called a selfie expert. The OPPO RX17 Pro has a camera with a Sony IMX576 sensor and F2.0 aperture. The focal length of the lens is 20 mm (equiv.). The camera supports real-time HDR and is equipped with AI SelfieTune 2.1 technology based on artificial intelligence. She is responsible for beauty, which is easily customizable and can be completely disabled. And OPPO also collected a huge collection of photographs of human faces, and now the data from this database is being used to improve it. Therefore, gender, age, color and texture of the skin, as well as various types of face and race, are taken into account. And now let's move on to the main camera unit, which protrudes slightly from the case. The main camera is equipped with a Sony IMX362 sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. There is optical image stabilization and a variable aperture F1.5 / 2.4. It adapts to the shooting conditions: when there is a lot of light, the automation covers the diaphragm (F2.4), when it is not enough, it opens (F1.5). The focal length of the lens is 26 mm (equiv.). The second camera is equipped with a sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels and a lens aperture F2.6. It complements the main one: it provides a hybrid zoom, is responsible for blurring the background and high image clarity in different modes (including "Night").

OPPO RX17 Pro is positioned as a camera phone. Everyone has already forgotten the word that characterized smartphones with an improved camera. We are used to the fact that everything should be fine in the flagship smartphone, and the camera and its capabilities allow the device to stand out against the general background. Strictly speaking, the OPPO RX17 Pro is not a flagship, but not a mid-range smartphone either. As always, we started our photo test in good daylight conditions. And the smartphone immediately showed its serious potential. Compared to many other devices, overharping on one hundred percent crop is less noticeable here. The picture looks cleaner and better. We also noted the correct color rendering.

The OPPO RX17 Pro has a wide-angle lens with an equivalent focal length of 26 mm. It allows you to get a high-quality image, and at the same time, such a focal length, of course, is a way for smartphones. Among the skyscrapers, we were able to get some characteristic frames. And again, we emphasize the high detail of the pictures.

There is a shooting mode with a wide dynamic range of HDR, which is turned on by default in automatic mode, that is, the smartphone itself determines when to use it and when not. We took two frames with the HDR on / off against the sun to evaluate the operation of this function. OPPO RX17 Pro coped well with the dark areas in the picture and tried to extend the overexposure in the form of the setting sun: the halo became noticeably smaller. A shot might be better, but it looks natural. Now let's see how the smartphone works with the transfer of invoices. We got very good results: all the smudges of the paint are noticeable, the strokes look different.

The OPPO RX17 Pro has a panoramic mode that surprised us unpleasantly. It seems that the image is obtained in high quality, it can be safely zoomed in, there are no glues. Even with exposure, everything is fine: overexposures are almost invisible. However, there are strong geometric distortions. In addition, a passing person or a passing car may incorrectly display in such a picture and spoil it. In OPPO RX17 Pro there is a set of modes: "Panorama", "Expert" (manual settings), "Video", "Portrait", "Night" and "Sticker". The latter is a kind of analogue of animated emojis and all kinds of masks. It was decided not to test portrait mode, as practicing photographers would focus on it. Impressed by the results obtained in the afternoon on the street, we moved into a room with artificial lighting. Once again, the image quality was impressive: precise focus, effective image stabilization.

Unfortunately, some oversights in white balance were noted. The smartphone seeks to make the picture a little warmer, but it is easily adjusted directly on the screen using the built-in editor: it is powerful and at the same time very simple. True, when you save the image, metadata is lost.

Now let's move on to the most difficult and, it seems, the main feature of the OPPO RX17 Pro - shooting in the evening and at night. A special “Night” mode is implemented here, which allows you to take a sharp shot with your hands at a slow shutter speed (usually 4 seconds). Interestingly, in this case, one second of exposure is registered in the metadata. In fact, a multi-exposure software algorithm is used here, which, together with optical and electronic image stabilization, allows you to get a high-quality picture.

Again, there were problems with determining the white balance (perhaps a defect in the test device), but they were easily solved by simple processing in the built-in editor. Thus, the "Night" mode boasts accurate focus operation, good image stabilization. Frankly, we did not expect such agility from the OPPO RX17 Pro .

Noticing the problem with determining the white balance when viewing images on the smartphone's display, we switched to manual mode: we selected the minimum value of ISO 100, set the shutter speed to 1/30 s and manually set the white balance.

In Expert mode, you cannot shoot in RAW format. However, the developers prepared a surprise: when shooting in HDR, the file is shot in RAW HDR. The smartphone fully synthesizes an HDR image in RAW format and only then compresses the data into a JPEG container. Thanks to this, the image becomes better, the details are not lost.

One cannot but recall the variable aperture: from F1.5 to F2.4. Indeed, in the dark, the electronics of the smartphone stably open the aperture to full, while in the afternoon, pictures are taken with F2.4. In the afternoon and in good light conditions, the automation selects the minimum value of ISO 100, and the shutter speed can be set in the range from 1/100 to 1/3000 s. It is 1/100 s with a minimum photosensitivity that can be considered a “boiling point”. Variable aperture is an interesting feature of OPPO RX17 Pro: they may not be the first to do it in a smartphone (Samsung was the first in the S9 line), but unlike the Korean brand, OPPO has this function confidently and accurately.

The OPPO RX17 Pro has the ability to record video in HD, Full HD and UHD 4K resolutions. To evaluate the performance of the camcorder, we recorded a fragment of a Mgzavrebi concert with outstretched hands. Note the high quality of shooting (despite the difficult stage light) and good quality sound recording. Unfortunately, image stabilization was a bit disappointing. On the display during recording, everything seemed even worse: the shaking was constant, and we already thought that we had started such a video test in vain, but the output turned out to be a well-stabilized video. The selfie camera in OPPO is really good. Not sure if everyone will need the AI ??Selfie Tune feature to quickly hide wrinkles and skin irregularities, but overall this mode is not bad. And the camera itself copes with its function perfectly.

OPPO RX17 Pro - a bright smartphone, not only outside but also inside. The spectacular design is complemented by a powerful filling, high-quality display, an unusual drop-shaped neckline and a good point-and-shoot-camera. The developers have created a certain space in which they try to simplify the life of the owner of the RX17 Pro as much as possible. Need a simple display color temperature setting? You are welcome! Applications at hand in a drop down menu? Easy! A clear camera with an optimal set of shooting modes? Not a problem. This course on simplicity pleases, because only a few need additional features like the RAW-format, a 3.5-mm audio jack and "stock" Android. OPPO turned out to be an original device, moderately powerful, beautiful, with a large and excellent AMOLED display and an advanced camera that feels comfortable in almost any environment: day, indoors and night, especially if you use the appropriate mode. During testing, we did not experience problems with power, shell, and there were no questions about the fingerprint scanner under the display. We can note only small mistakes in determining the white balance, which are easily corrected even by the built-in editor. At the same time, we really liked the quality of the pictures: there is no such oversharp as that of competitors, the picture looks more natural. You can also note the work of artificial intelligence, which accurately determines the scene and selects the optimal settings for it. However, in OPPO RX17 Pro , despite the presence of three cameras, there is neither a wide-angle nor a zoom lens. To be honest, this is already not enough in 2018. The OPPO RX17 Pro has another unique feature - a battery with support for SuperVOOC technology. Firstly, the smartphone is not one, but two batteries at once. Secondly, with a proprietary adapter, you can charge the RX17 Pro by 40% in just 10 minutes! Well, OPPO RX17 Pro surprised our editors: we had no such hopes for a camera phone from China. After testing, we applaud him for a good camera, high-quality display, excellent battery with ultra-fast charging and design. Before us is a solid device. No compromises were made, but you can easily close your eyes to them. Pros:
