THE BEST MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

THE BEST MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS

Applications have become a must in our life in general. We have become so accustomed to them that we no longer consider life without using them. They make life easier for us, they give us instant and accurate information of everything that comes to mind. Few of us are leaving home without knowing exactly the weather, minimum and maximum temperatures and probability of rain; Those who spend a week without using Google Maps or an image editor, a calculator or counting our daily steps.

And all this practically "of origin". The applications make life easier for us as human beings, but also and especially as photographers and photographers. The trick, for me, is to have the right and necessary and learn to take advantage of them. Here I leave you with several applications that will facilitate photographic work. I have tried to cover the entire workflow of a photographer; from pre-storage planning or final printing. I hope they help you make your photographic life more fruitful, comfortable and safe. Here we go

BETTER APPLICATIONS TO PLAN DEPARTURES

A picture starts a lot before pressing the shutter. A good picture starts at home with the planning of any outing. Knowing the best times of light or the position of the sun, can be useful to us, whatever our photographic specification, whether we love the scenery , as if ours is the portrait , photography macro , the  night photography  or whatever That we are passionate about.
  • The Photographer's Ephemeris (IOS and Android): It is mainly aimed at nature or urban landscape photographers , although in general it will also be useful for any type of outdoor photographer . Information such as sunrise and sunset and its route, of the moon, position of the stars, save locations, topographic maps around the world, elevation angle, color forecasts of sunrise and sunset and many more options. Just add that it has an amazing 4.9 out of 5 user rating.
  • Photopills (IOS and Android):  Another classic to plan your photographic outputs. It is one of the best known and used, from calculating the sun and the moon at each moment, hyperfocal table, hyperfocal calculation, star trail simulator, augmented reality of depth of field, 10,500 points of interest, calculation of exposure and A long etcetera. A very complete tool with many followers and a great appreciation of the users; 4.8 out of 5.
Hyperfocal Pro  or DOFMaster , will be helpful if need something more specific as only calculate the hyperfocal distance . And of course, applications like Google Maps  or similar that are already a classic that comes standard with us wherever we go. My recommendation is that everyone or one who takes outdoor photography very often, travel often, and has the 10 euros (approximately) that cost Photopills or The Photographer's Ephemeris, spend them. Because they are wonderful. Many applications in one that allow you to have everything you need outside in a single application.

BEST CAMERA APPLICATIONS

  • Camera zoom FX Premium ( IOS and Android ): A magnificent application for which mobile photography is taken seriously, with many options such as rapid burst shooting, RAW capture, control of parameters such as ISO, live histogram, speed of shutter, HDR, different flash options, different scene modes, and so on. Millions of downloads and satisfied users. It is paid, but if mobile photography is your thing, you deserve to have an App that meets your needs.
  • Bacon Camera (Android) : Free and very complete application for Android operating system. Among other features, it stands out for its manual controls, white balance, exposure, ISO, speed, virtual horizon, RAW, panoramic, and many other options. It’s worth checking out if you’re an Android user.

Here I leave you with many more camera applications that may interest you.

BEST APPLICATIONS FOR EDITING

  • Snapseed ( Android and IOS ): After trying many applications over the years, this is my favorite. It is very intuitive and, above all, very complete. It allows, in addition to the classic editing functions (brightness, white balance, detail, shadows, lights, contrast, etc.), add text, make double exposures, add filters, blur, perspective, brush, different portrait modes, HDR and a very long etcetera. Oh, and it's also free. Highly recommended :)
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom ( Android and IOS ):  If you are already used to using Lightroom, you will know that it is one of the best editing programs that exist today for photographers. The mobile version is no exception, it is complete and intuitive, it allows you to work in RAW, edit with curves, modify white balance, contrast, exposure, modify perspectives, apply filters and a very long etcetera.
  • Pixlr ( Android and IOS ): Another application with many downloads and satisfied users, with many creative options such as collage, double exposure, selective corrections, filters, drawing, color balance, text and so on.
And I give you the same advice as before. All three are free so you can gossip, flirt and see which one you feel most comfortable with. Once you have your favorite application, delete the rest and squeeze, practice, and learn to know what you have. Here you have more options, in case you are interested in checking them out.

APPLICATIONS TO STORE PHOTOS

Today we have half a life on our mobile phone. Losing it would be, on many occasions, losing years of photos and memories, which is why it is so important to always have a “virtual” support in addition to the copies we can make physically (hard drives). Next, my recommendations on photo storage basis. Google Photos ( IOS and Android ): It is the photo storage system par excellence and the one I would most recommend. It is free, offers you unlimited storage in good image quality (up to 16MP and 1080p HD for video), and allows you to have all your images sorted in the cloud, being able to access them at any time.
One Drive ( IOS and Android ): Another application widely used in terms of backups, allows access to files from any device, allows access to files offline, share files, and so on. The basic offers 5GB and is free, but for 2 Euros per month you can have up to 50GB.
Dropbox ( IOS and Android ): It is a classic for storing and sharing files between people, but also for automatically storing photographs taken with the mobile phone. It offers 2GB of free storage, but it is expandable in its PRO version for about 10 Euros per month with those offered by 1TB of storage.

APPLICATIONS FOR PHOTO PRINTING

I will not get tired of repeating that a few photos hidden in a hard disk do not make sense. The photos are made to be seen, sniffed, exposed. Do not forget them in a corner and give them life, in whatever format. Framed on a wall, in a book or in a cup. The important thing is to give them life. Blurb (IOS) : This application allows you to create good quality books in an agile and intuitive way. It has many different formats, styles and finishes, where you will surely find the one that best suits you. Cheerz ( IOS and Android ): An application to print photos simply and intuitively. You can choose between several formats, sizes and finishes. From canvases, photos, magnets, customizable boxes or calendars to DIY albums and much more. It has many satisfied users behind it, so it can be a good option;).

APPLICATIONS FOR PHOTO SALES

Do you want to go one step further and sell your photographs? An easy selling app that works directly from the phone can be an interesting option. Snapwire ( IOS and Android ): It works either by creating photographs needed by companies that use it, or by uploading your own images, which are previously selected by the platform. If you participate in the "contest" posed by companies you earn 100% of the profits. In case you upload a random image and they select it, you win 50% of the sale. You always retain your image rights and Copyright.
EyeEm ( IOS and Android ): An image bank and at the same time an Instagram-type social network but where you can also sell your photographs. It is free and also has very good ratings from its users.
And here my recommendations. What do you think about them? Did you know them? Do you think they can help you at some point in your photographic process? Take a look (these or others you consider) and keep the ones that work best for you, it is better to have few and effective, that you know and master, that many useless applications or that you know little. And, of course, if you have some with which you are delighted or delighted, you can share them with the rest in the comments. Thank you very much for reading here and we'll talk soon .
