Metabones Speed Booster is a special converter similar to the well-known teleconverters installed between the lens and the camera. We are talking about mirrorless mirrors with a small working distance and lenses from DSLRs with a large working distance. Actually, the difference in working lengths allows you to put this converter between the camera and the lens.
Thanks to the collecting lens, the Metabones Speed Booster projects the light transmitted through the lens onto a frame with a smaller area, increasing the lens aperture by one step (this is a real or another “equivalent” aperture - not specified). Moreover, the coefficient of change of the focal length is x0.71. An example is given on the official website of the developer: if you put the Canon EF 85mm f / 1.2L II on the Sony NEX camera using a converter, the photographer will get a lens with the characteristics of 59mm f / 0.9.
