Mirrorless camera Sony A7S II

Sony A7S II mirrorless camera test

Sony Alpha ILCE-7SM2 is one of the most unusual cameras on the modern electronics market. It combines a number of unique characteristics by which no camera in the same price range can compete with it. For a number of characteristics, equal is generally impossible to find. Let's start with the matrix. This is the only modern model that has such a modest resolution: 12 megapixels with a sensor format of 24x36 mm. But if large-format printing is not your task, then this resolution will be enough. But due to the large area of ??each pixel, the camera boasts just huge working ISOs. If you are not afraid of RAW processing, then you can safely use values ??of the order of 25600 units. Excellent things are with the dynamic range. RAW files allow you to make corrections in a very wide range. The camera received an extremely effective image stabilizer that can work with almost any optics. This greatly expanded the possibilities of photo and video shooting. For example, photographers became available for shooting with long and super-long shutter speeds. Four shutter speeds relative to the critical value are not the limit. The stabilizer turns the Sony Alpha ILCE-7SM2 into a very attractive tool for reportage shooting, when sometimes you need to get a shot in extremely adverse conditions, and there are no critical resolution requirements. By combining the efforts of the stabilizer and low-noise matrix, you can shoot in almost complete darkness, when the eye no longer sees anything. We add here the developed ergonomics, the ability to fine-tune the buttons, the best electronic viewfinder to date. The disadvantages include not so quick control of the autofocus point and, on the whole, less confident operation of the autofocus system compared to models equipped with phase or hybrid autofocus. However, when shooting in the dark, the focusing system of this model will give odds to almost any camera: the automation will work up to -4EV, you can manually focus at all in almost complete darkness. But the Sony Alpha ILCE-7SM2's talents are not limited to the photo capabilities. The camera steps on the heels of professional video recording devices, significantly outperforming them in price. 4K-video, very high quality Full HD, Slow Motion (slow motion) in Full HD - all this Sony Alpha ILCE-7SM2 on the shoulder. The working ISOs of the camera are simply the highest. And for serious post-production, it is possible to work with various gamma curve profiles, including S-Log3. The capabilities of ILCE-7SM2 can be expanded with system accessories: from a video lens to an XLR adapter and an external monitor. So the video function in this model is no longer a toy, but a professional tool.
