Assembling the ideal team of objectives that will accompany you throughout your adventure as a photographer can be confusing, not only for the large number of options and alternatives available but also, for the amount of technical aspects, numbers and nomenclatures that accompany them.
Nikon, for example, offers in its own range of lenses called Nikkor more than 200 alternatives, so you can transform the photos you have in your mind into reality. Each of these objectives will serve you for a specific type of photography.
If you do a search on the web or if you directly investigate a little on the manufacturer's website, you will realize how difficult it is for the amateur photographer to assemble his ideal objective team.
In today's article I have prepared a list with “5 essential Nikon lenses”, to cover the different types of use you could have as a photographer. Let's see them, emphasizing the most important aspect of the lens: the photo. For each objective that I am going to present to you, I will present you some photos so that you can see real examples of photos taken with the objective in question.
I hope you find it useful!
THE 5 BEST LENSES FOR NIKON (IN PHOTOGRAPHS) FOR THE AMATEUR AND ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHER
1 - NIKKOR AF-S DX 35MM F / 1.8 G
If you are looking for a goal to make social or to take excellent portraits, the Nikkor 35 mm 1.8 G is surely your best option. Why? Because for only 200 euros you will have in your hands a comfortable, light, extremely sharp, bright lens, which focuses very fast and very solid construction. What more could you ask for?
Its effective focal length is 50 mm (35mm x 1.5 which is the clipping factor of the DX format), so it could be said that it is the effective “ Prince of the lenses ”, ideal for taking social photographs, in events, some incredible portraits with the background completely out of focus, landscapes and even macro photography, since despite being fixed, it is extremely versatile.
This goal will be a great ally to defeat your worst enemy: darkness .
Some examples:
2 - NIKKOR AF-S VR 70-300MM F / 4.5-5.6 G
This telephoto lens is another objective that should not be missing in your photo backpack. The 70-300 mm VR of Nikon is the best option that you will have at your fingertips if you want to “get close” to things and not only for its price that is around 650 euros , but for its size, its weight, the speed of the approach and for Above all, its quality is really amazing
This objective will be ideal for photographing sports and nature, although its performance is really very good in almost any situation, especially when taking portraits. Of course, provided that the lighting conditions are adequate, since it is not really very bright.
The Nikkor 70-300 VR is compatible for both DX and Full Frame cameras, but if you plan to use it on a DX camera, its effective focal length will be 450 mm (300 x 1.5), and if you do it on a camera Full Frame format, this will be 300 mm. Anyway, if you have a full-format camera, I would recommend that you get a target TV of a range according to the quality of your camera.
Some examples:
3 - NIKKOR AF-S VR MICRO 105MM F / 2.8 G IF-ED
As far as “macro” or approach photography is concerned, this Nikon lens takes the palms. It is currently the best micro target of the Japanese giant and one of the best in the market.
Despite not being as economical as the other objectives presented here, its price difference is justified: its excellent construction, its luminosity (f / 2.8) and excellent quality will guarantee your investment. How much? Approximately 800 euros on Amazon , which although it may seem somewhat excessive, worth every penny.
This lens is ideal for use both in approximation photography as well as for portraits or as a short target TV. It is extremely bright, which will guarantee you to obtain not only correctly exposed photographs but also very attractive blurring.
The Nikkor 105 f / 2.8 VR is almost perfect except for a small detail: when using the internal focusing motor, the image varies too much while focusing, which can be very annoying in macro mode. Anyway, it is easily solved by approaching or moving away from the subject directly.
With this objective you can discover a whole new world, the world of detail.
Some examples:
4 - NIKKOR AF-S DX 10-24MM F / 3.5-4.5 G
If you had to form a "dream team" consisting only of Nikon lenses, this incredible wide angle could not be missed.
While you can use this lens for various situations, thanks to its variable focal length, it is ideally designed for use in landscape photography , indoors, in architectural photographs or in any type of photographs where you need a large portion of the scene within your frame .
The Nikkor 10-24 mm is a high quality wide angle lens specially designed for medium or DX cameras, so its effective focal length is equivalent to 15-36 mm ideal for this type of photography. By having an internal focus motor, you can use it in any DX camera of the brand.
This wide-angle lens is also something expensive: around 830 euros on Amazon , but it will accompany you for a very long time, as long as you don't go to full-frame or Full Frame cameras.
Some examples:
5 - FISHEYE NIKKOR D 10.5MM F / 2.8 AF TARGET
If you are thinking of giving a radical change to your photographs, this fisheye lens cannot be missing.
Fisheye lenses are an "extreme wide angle" so fisheye and wide angle are not mutually exclusive. In fact, if your pocket allows it, you will do well to get both. This goal costs around 700 and peak euros on Amazon . You will not lose money if you invest in this goal.
The uses that you can give to this objective are very varied: from landscape and urban photography to macro photography since its minimum focus distance is very small. With fisheye goals , your imagination will be the limit.
